The LTSICON 2025 – Transplant Coordinator’s Symposium provided an extensive platform to learn about current practices and advancements in organ donation and transplantation. The symposium focused on clinical, ethical, and coordination aspects of both living and deceased donor programs.
Key topics covered included Brainstem Death: Medical and legal criteria for declaring brainstem death, Extended Criteria Donor (ECD): Expanding donor eligibility to maximize organ utilization, Transplant – Legal and Ethical Framework: Regulatory and ethical considerations in liver transplantation.Counselling and Implementing Deceased Donation Programs: Family counselling and program execution strategies.Living Donor Advocacy: Promoting safe and ethical living donor programs.Deceased Donation Coordination: Best practices in hospital and organizational coordination.Donation after Circulatory Death (DCD): Protocols and challenges in DCD programs.
The symposium was attended by Sunayana Singh and Divya Gusain, ORGAN India, who gained valuable insights to enhance organ donation programs, improve coordination, and support better patient outcomes.
